Healthy Human Beings Don't

We don't need to work harder.
We don't need more discipline.
We don't need more focus.
We don't need tougher workouts.
We don't need harder exercises.
We don't need another diet.
We don't need a stricter program.
We don't need to be broken down.
We don't need smaller portions.
We don't need more reps or sets.
We don't need motivation.

What we need is to discover what real health feels like and looks like; and how we are naturally designed to “be” healthy. We aren't designed to “just do it” but we are designed to "BE" whole-people, who are not defined by what we can or cannot do.

When we know who we are and how we are designed to eat, sleep, drink, sleep, breathe, listen, ask, look and move to nourish our spirits, hearts, minds, bodies and relationships, then WE WILL become emotionally, physically, spiritually, relationally and mentally healthier.

Do you want to be at a healthy weight?
Do you want to be less stressed?
Do you want to be less busy?
Do you want to be healthier?
Do you want real friends and community?

Of course you do. We are naturally designed to want these things and we need these things to become our best selves. However, we are not going to find our best lives by doing a program or a formula. We are not going to find heath/wholeness in anything that wants to separate our hearts, spirits, minds and bodies to get results.

You know what I gave-up when I had six-pack abs? I gave-up loving my heart, my mind, my community and my spirit to make sure I ate and worked out when I was supposed to. The more I focused on my body, the more obsessed I became with my body. Eventually, circumstances created the space for me to see that I had reduced myself to a body to fit into a formula to get results that told me who I was and what to do. I had forgotten who I was and how I was designed and we have forgotten who we are and how we are designed to live as human beings, when our whole day revolves around what we eat, how we exercise, what we look like, what we buy and what we do. We help to sabotage the growth and development of ourselves, our relationships and our lives, when we live as bodies and just do whatever is “guaranteed” to “change our lives and get fast results”. We exchange living and discovering our amazing selves to  grind out the latest formula of happiness, regardless of the anxiety, pain, fear, guilt, loneliness, hopelessness or shame that results from what we are doing. 

Have you ever stopped to think that (maybe) grinding it out is what is keeping you from being known and accepted, because it keeps your true-self disconnected from yourself, others and the world? Perhaps, it is not your effort or lack of effort that is failing but it is these broken formulas and programs that are producing an epidemic of unhealthy results. It’s time to remember that we are not designed to eat, exercise, drink, worship, work, play and consume our way out of shame, guilt, fear or pain and into love, joy, hope, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness or self-control. The truth is that there are no formulas to life, love, health, happiness and being human.

It's time to step away from the formulas and having others "motivate" you to do better and  try harder. It's time to give-up the grind and listen, learn, live and love. You are amazing. You have a beautiful design. It's time to rediscover who you are, how you are designed and live the life you are designed to live. Join me for a new way and new conversation about everything we do to try get everything we already have been given at I don't know where this process will take you but I can promise that it will be better than being reduced to a body so you can work harder, have more discipline, generate more focus, do tougher workouts, exercise harder and do another ridiculous diet. You deserve more. You deserve your best you.
